Our Company
A practice built on
patient counsel.
Mahligai Kasih has accompanied Malaysian families through some of their most searching personal chapters — without pressure, without shortcuts, and without losing sight of what matters most to each client.

How Mahligai Kasih Began
The firm was founded in Kuala Lumpur with a straightforward belief: that people arriving at a family law office are often carrying a weight that deserves more than a brisk transactional response. Family separation, in its many forms, sits at the intersection of law and lived experience — and it calls for a certain quality of attention.
We began as a small practice focused entirely on civil family law matters. Over the years, as our understanding of Malaysian clients deepened, we developed the capacity to advise on Syariah-applicable situations alongside civil proceedings, and to coordinate with mediators and court-appointed officers where that was in a client's interest.
Our name — Mahligai Kasih, meaning roughly "a dwelling of care" — reflects the commitment we made at the outset: to be a place where clients feel that their case is held carefully, not processed quickly. That commitment has not changed.
We are registered with the Malaysian Bar and work within the formal legal framework of Malaysian family law. We do not offer quick answers to complicated situations — but we do offer considered ones.
Our Mission
To offer Malaysian families reliable, honest family law counsel — delivered with the patience their situations deserve — and to stand beside them through proceedings without making their experience harder than it needs to be.
Our Approach
We favour negotiated outcomes, plain-language documentation, and candid conversations about cost and timeline. We will not file papers on your behalf without your full understanding of what is being filed and why.
Our Values
Honesty about what is achievable. Respect for the emotional weight of family matters. Independence — we represent one party only, and we represent that party with full attention.

How we work
Professional Standards & Protocols
Malaysian Bar Registration
All practising solicitors at Mahligai Kasih hold current practising certificates issued by the Malaysian Bar. Our conduct is governed by the Legal Profession Act 1976 and the relevant professional rules.
Client Confidentiality
Legal professional privilege applies to all communications between our firm and clients. We maintain strict data handling procedures in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).
Document Review Protocol
Every document — petition, settlement agreement, or memorandum — is reviewed line by line with the client before any signature is given. We do not rely on clients to read legal text unaided.
Transparent Fee Disclosure
We provide a written cost estimate before any formal engagement begins. Where circumstances change during a matter, we notify the client before costs are incurred beyond the agreed scope.
Mediation Coordination
Where mediation is in the client's interest, we coordinate with accredited mediators and help prepare clients for those sessions. The firm works with several established mediation practitioners in the Klang Valley.
Child Welfare Focus
In all matters involving children, our approach is guided by the principles of the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act and Malaysian family court welfare guidelines. The child's interest is placed before procedural convenience.
Family Law Expertise in Kuala Lumpur
Malaysian family law operates across two distinct legal systems — the civil framework applicable to non-Muslim parties, and the Syariah framework applicable to Muslim marriages — each with its own courts, procedures, and considerations. Navigating these systems well requires not only legal knowledge but a careful understanding of each client's particular circumstances and the practical implications of every procedural step.
Mahligai Kasih focuses its practice on family law matters including initial consultations, divorce petition drafting and settlement negotiation, and the preparation of long-term family restructuring plans. We work with clients across the Klang Valley and accept referrals from other solicitors where a matter falls squarely within our area of focus.
Our office is located at Lot 8-2, Jalan Imbi, 55100 Kuala Lumpur, and is accessible by public transport and private vehicle. Appointments are available Monday through Saturday during office hours. For clients who prefer to begin with a written enquiry, email correspondence is welcomed and treated with the same care as an in-person meeting.

You do not need to have everything worked out
before you call us.
Many of our clients arrive uncertain about what they need or whether legal involvement is the right step. That is precisely what the initial consultation is for.
