Our services
Three services,
each paced for the
family it serves.
We do not offer one-size solutions. The right level of legal involvement depends on the complexity and circumstances of each family's situation.
Return to HomeHow we work
Our Methodology
Every engagement at Mahligai Kasih follows the same foundational discipline: we listen before we advise, and we advise before we file. No documents are submitted, no proceedings formally commenced, until the client has had a clear explanation of what will happen next and has expressly agreed to proceed.
We favour resolution over escalation. Where a matter can be concluded through negotiation or mediation without contested proceedings, we pursue that route and explain its advantages. Where court involvement is unavoidable, we prepare the client thoroughly for each stage and accompany them through it.
Our typical engagement sequence: initial consultation and written summary, formal instructions and cost agreement, drafting and client review, any mediation sessions, formal filing and court attendance where required, conclusion and documentation of outcomes.

Decide at your own pace whether to take any further steps
Service 02
Divorce Petition & Settlement Drafting
Considered drafting and procedural support for divorce proceedings under Malaysian civil family law, including financial settlements, property division discussions, and arrangements concerning children. The firm favours negotiated outcomes where these are possible and presents realistic expectations on time and cost before formal filings. Each document is reviewed with the client in plain English before signature.
What this service includes:
- Drafting of divorce petition and supporting documents
- Financial settlement and property division guidance
- Children's arrangement discussions and drafting
- Plain-English review of all documents before signing
- Negotiation support with the other party's solicitor
Typical timeline:
Uncontested matters: 3 to 6 months from filing. Contested matters: timeline shared candidly at the outset and reviewed throughout.
Service 03
Long-Term Family Restructuring Plan
A patient, multi-session engagement for separating couples or extended families who wish to put their affairs into a settled written form, covering parenting arrangements, property division, and longer-term financial commitments. The firm coordinates with mediators where helpful and produces a final family memorandum that the parties can refer back to during the years that follow.
What this service includes:
- Multiple structured sessions at a pace that suits the family
- Parenting arrangements — school, holidays, decisions
- Property division and longer-term financial commitments
- Mediator coordination where appropriate
- Final family memorandum — a lasting reference document
Process steps:
Initial consultation to establish the scope of the engagement
Series of structured sessions (typically 3 to 5 over 6 to 10 weeks)
Mediator sessions arranged and supported where helpful
Draft family memorandum produced and reviewed
Final memorandum signed and provided to all relevant parties
